Solution 1: UNPLUG the PC from the power supply
Try this super simple solution first. Simply UNPLUG the PC from the
wall outlet/power supply.All of hardware of the computer connects to the
motherboard ,including the USB ports. Sometimes the motherboard needs
to be “rebooted” to reload the drivers. And now your USB ports should hopefully be recognizing the devices again.
Solution 2: Update device drivers.
Open Device manager by clicking on Start and typing in devmgmt.msc
or by going to Control Panel and clicking on Device Manager.
In Windows Device Manger, expand “Universal Serial Bus controllers”
Right
click on the unknown device and select “Properties”. In the pop-up
window that, navigate to Driver tab and click “Update Driver”.
Solution 3: Uninstall and reinstall all your USB controller drivers
If still the error appears when you plug in the USB device, it is
better to uninstall the misconfigured USB controller drivers and
re-install them. To do this,
Open Device Manager, and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
Now right click on USB drivers and click Uninstall. Do for all USB drivers one by one.
Restart your PC. The USB drivers will automatically re-install and solve the misconfigured USB driver problem.
Method 4: Disable USB selective suspend setting.
This method prevents your USB external drive from powering dow Select
the Start button, type power plan in the Search box, and then click
“Choose a power plan”.
Select the Start button, type power plan in the Search box, and then click “Choose a power plan”.
Select Change Plan Settings, Next to your currently selected plan
Click Change advanced power settings.
Then expand USB Settings > USB selective suspend settings in the pop-up.
Click Enabled, then select Disabled from the drop-down menu.
Click Apply > OK to save your settings.
Note: If you’re using a laptop, select Battery, select the drop down menu, and then select disabled.
Solution 5. Use Windows USB Troubleshooter
Microsoft
has introduced a tool called “Microsoft easy fix” to troubleshoot the
USB device issues. It can be used for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and Windows 10.
