M icrosoft first introduced the functionality to use a USB drive or SD card as a memory cache in Windows Vista in the form of a feature known as ReadyBoost. The feature was also inherited to Windows 7 and later versions, but with the ability to configure more than one USB drive for ReadyBoost. So, what is ReadyBoost in Windows? ReadyBoost is a feature that speeds up Windows by storing application files and data as cache in a USB drive. This disk caching is beneficial in case the system is running a slow hard drive. Fix Ethernet Not Working in Windows 10

Before continuing, make sure to follow these basic steps to fix the problem:
  • Try to connect the ethernet cable to another port on the router, as chances are the particular port might be damaged.
  • Try to use another cable, as the cable itself might be damaged.
  • Try to unplug the cable then again reconnect.
  • Try to connect the ethernet to another PC to see if the problem is resolved. If the ethernet works on the other PC then your PC hardware might be damaged and you need to send it to repair.

Method 1: Run Network Troubleshooter

1.Press Windows Key + I to open Settings then click on Update & Security.

2.From the left-hand menu select Troubleshoot.
3.Under Troubleshoot click on Internet Connections and then click Run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Reset the Ethernet Adapter

1.Press Windows Key + I to open Settings then click on the Network & Internet icon.

Method 3: Enable Ethernet Device and Update Drivers

1.Press Windows Key + R then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter to open Device Manager.

3.Again right-click on it and select Update Driver.

6.If not, then again go to Device Manager, right-click on your Ethernet device and select Update Driver.
7.This time select “Browse my computer for driver software.“

8.Now click “Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.“

9.Select the latest Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller driver and click Next.

Method 4: Enable Ethernet Connection

1.Press Windows Key + R then type ncpa.cpl and hit Enter to open Network Connections.

3.This will enable the Ethernet connection, again try to connect to the Ethernet network.

Method 5: Temporarily Disable Antivirus or Firewall

1.Right-click on the Antivirus Program icon from the system tray and select Disable.

2.Next, select the time frame for which the Antivirus will remain disabled.

Note: Choose the smallest amount of time possible for example 15 minutes or 30 minutes.
3.Once done, again try to access the Internet and check if the error resolves or not.

Method 6: Flush DNS and Reset TCP/IP

1.Right-click on Windows Button and select “Command Prompt(Admin).“

Method 7: Change Power Management Settings for Ethernet

1.Press Windows Key + R then type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter to open Device Manager.

2.Expand Network adapters, then right-click on your Ethernet device and select Properties.

3.Switch to Power Management tab under the Ethernet Properties window.
4.Next, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power“.

6.Reboot your PC to save changes.

Method 8: Use Google DNS

1.Open Control Panel and click on Network and Internet.

3.Select your Wi-Fi then double click on it and select Properties.

4.Now select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

5.Checkmark “Use the following DNS server addresses” and type the following:
Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

6.Close everything and you may be able to Fix Ethernet Not Working in Windows 10.
